We spent Christmas Eve morning continuing our breakfast tradition. Hunter is at that difficult age to eat out...we can't entertain him with crayons or electronics, he grabs everything he can reach and by the time we get our food is done eating and ready to go.
The boys and I went home for naps and cookie baking while Adam went in to work for a bit. The cookies have still not been frosted...but it was fun.
We left to get to our Church Christmas Eve service and it was great yet again...from what I saw. I spent a lot of time chasing Hunter and Adam spent a lot of time trying to keep Zack entertained. As much as I love this season of our lives these are the moments that are a bit difficult.
We opened presents from each other. We didn't get the boys much...and I am glad. Zack was extremely happy with the two toys and clothes for next year. Hunter was perfectly happy getting the toys he already had out of the basket and carrying them upstairs.
Christmas morning we opened presents from Santa...again nothing big...and again I'm glad. If you ask Zack about Santa the only thing he will tell you is "silly Santa ate the cookies". Hunter was a little put off that he had to sit and rip more paper.
We packed the kids up and went to Adam's parents house to celebrate with that side of the family. Basically we ate a lot, opened more presents and played a lot...I love that kind of relaxed Christmas. Zack loved playing with his cousins and Hunter loved learning the ins and outs of Grammy's house...he got into EVERYTHING!
The Friday after Christmas my family came up (sans Scott and Bethany who were sick with the flu :(). I knew the boys didn't need much so I suggested they all get together and buy the boys a kitchen...a joint gift from everyone. It was a hit. My dad and Adam LOVED spending a couple hours putting it together. The boys love playing with it.
Things I learned this year...
Less is more...next year the boys might only get clothes since Grandma and Grammy have the toys covered (too bad it is so much fun buying them things...and Adam and I don't buy them presents very often)
Grandparents don't listen when you say not to buy a lot of presents
Even though it is exhausting it is totally worth it.
