Zack's First Ride

Zack is a sweet thoughtful kid...he loves almost everything...however when something is hard he tends to give up.  Not much is "hard" for Zack, but the few times he sat on a bike he didn't understand how to pedal and gave up.  It's hard to know when to push your child, let them fail or give them a break and try again another day.

Today Z was super excited about going on a bike ride with mommy and daddy...meaning he rode and we supported him (well Adam did most of the supporting while I did the documenting).  I know that part of his excitement came from his "ninjin turtle" helmet.

He did pretty well...and apparently pedaling is hard.

It's even more hard when you add in steering.

I love watching him learn and I love seeing things come together that to me is second nature...pedaling...right...you just push one foot forward than the other.  I never knew (in my adult life) how difficult learning a bike can be.

We are off to a late start...but last year I was out of commission.  I'm sure a few more practice days will do the trick.

Our goal is to get this done by Adam's birthday and if he works at it we can get Adam a bike for his birthday so they can ride together.

Zack's goal is to get "bigger bigger bigger" so that he can go "super super super" fast like the big boys we see on our afternoon walks.

Is that really the direction we are headed...is he really going to not need us to help him ride...is he really going to meet his friends and race through the neighborhood?

5 Months - Stella

Oh goodness...how did another month get away from us?

Stella is still as adorable, as sweet, as happy as ever...

she loves to sleep, eat and watch her brothers...

she also loves to eat her hands...

and her bow.

She is starting to play a lot more.

She has no interest in rolling over...

which is fine with me because rolling over leads to crawling which leads to walking...

and with #3 I'm happy to keep her in one place for as long as possible.

We all love her and can't imagine a day without her smiles.
